About Us

St. Croix Valley Restorative Services

St. Croix Valley Restorative Services is a 501c3 non-profit founded in 2001. Our organization works in partnership with, but independently of, the criminal justice and human-service systems in St. Croix and Pierce Counties. We provide a variety of referral-based services that each of our partner agencies use to address the needs of victims, offenders and the greater community for a number of criminal offenses, with a focus on accountability and positive behavior change.

SCV Restorative Justice offers victim-centric restorative services to address how crime affects our youth, families and community. Our model focuses on prevention, intervention and reintegration. Restorative processes give crime victims an opportunity to participate and have a voice in the justice process. Community members and stakeholders are involved in the process of holding youth and offenders accountable. Services engage all parties in the process.

Our Mission

Utilizing the principles and practices of restorative justice, St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice works with victims, offenders and communities to respond to the effects of crime and conflict. Our evidenced-based curriculum both educates and builds accountability, decreasing recidivism rates and increasing the health and safety within our community.

What is restorative justice?

Restorative or community justice is a set of principles and practices that help communities address crime, conflict and other issues or challenges. Traditionally, restorative justice sessions involve victims, offenders and community stakeholders to address issues and repair harm. Restorative Justice emphasizes one key fact: crime and conflict damages people, communities and relationships.

Restorative justice can be parallel or alternative to the traditional criminal justice system. Each community is unique. Restorative processes can be used to address everything from prevention work and low-severity violations such as underage drinking, to specific cases of crime and conflict, including disorderly conduct, trespassing and theft. While offenders may have obligations due to the incident or situation, services are ultimately voluntary to all participants.

SCV Restorative Services works with agencies in Pierce and St. Croix Counties. Our sessions are community-based, focusing on offender accountability and identifying constructive responses to crime and conflict.
